What will you remember this now over the summer – and I would add – over a long time ago? Remember the nights spent under the stars as you can read in my previous post
, my arch enemy Sole XD XD XD the sea of Cilento, barbecues with friends and many other times no less important. A memory that certainly marked our lives and our summer 2016 was Cairo…
When I announced our trip to Cairo, on social, home, parents and friends he was born dismay. “Are you crazy ?? !!” there we are heard repeated a lot of times “There are attacks !!”. Given that my mother even when across the road is still trying to take my hand, my father, every time we leave, pulls out photos of family and when I was little; they obviously do not text, parents have every right to be concerned; but I speak the common opinion.
When a zone stops being safe and when one area instead it is 100%?
I do not think there can be a reasonable answer. Excluding war zones
where it is obviously dangerous to go, because, for example, Cairo
should be less safe in Paris
, or London
, or Berlin
There are many statistics that actually show that there are less secure the other cities, if you search on the net is foremost among these Rio de Janeiro
, for example, but I do not think that tourism has waned, even this year were held in the beautiful capital brasileira , the Olympic games
. So we should talk about the probability of death and what is more or less likely to die at the hands of a criminal, or at the hands of a terrorist
. But I certainly will not this topic.
As a matter of fact if you look at the photos of the pyramids I uploaded: EMPTY there was none. “Good for you,” someone may think, and actually there we enjoyed the big time. What can I write?
1- they’re alive
2 – that the Egyptian people are very friendly as well as accustomed to tourists
3 – that gave Western eye as a woman wearing the burqa here in Italy (people turned equal, the comments could be heard too).
4 – that is, with the costume I made a stir just as a woman in burkinis caused a sensation in Italy
5 – yes, I was afraid I too at one point, because they uproot the beliefs and mental images is still complicated and the fact that you should always be cautious and reasonable because a “bit” of truth is always there, that is, today hear talk of jihad for Muslims extremists hand, certainly not of attacks between goofy and donald (because if so we should decide whether or not to go to Disneyland, you think ?!).
Precisely for this reason, to avoid unpleasant moments, the bathroom I did not on a public beach, but on that of a hotel about 2 hours drive from Cairo, Ain Sukhna area frequented mostly by Egyptians and not by tourists.
The cars we were using to access the hotel were always controlled the guards and detained in a neutral zone a few meters from the hotel, the street there were roadblocks everywhere, Tahrir Square was completely impregnable, the hotels have high walls and cameras metal detectors at the entrances, and they vividly recommended to go to the bazaar. The airport is chock full of security checks, sometimes totally unnecessary, as guides and escorts were left free to come and go with no minimum control. The street was the folly as well as in any other place we visited densely populated (Cairo exceeds 10 million inhabitants and over 15 million in the metropolitan area).
Obviously it does not need to remember that it is not a rich nation so the street is not difficult to see carcasses of animals, horses or camels, and children playing in the next vicinity, poor hygienic conditions and not comparable to our standards.
So what I want to convey with this article that follows one direction and then change it seems totally ?! So “Unviaggioperdue we would find in Cairo?” My answer, for now, is a shy YES. I did not find less secure than others, or more dangerous than others, but you have to go with the right attitude, recognizing that we are also very influenced by public opinion, on the other hand to recognize as well that there may be dangers and take the necessary precautions, besides the fact that it is a very poor country. Simultaneously take all possible precautions to check on the Foreign Ministry portal if an area is recommended or advised against, first find the place where you plan to go and maybe take some small tricks to avoid offending the local culture. Be reasonable, inform family members, the hotel where they are staying, if you move away, and be relaxed even when you are on the street not to panic.
Sooooo see the Pyramids was a dream that came true, the vastness and solemnity of this place are really incomparable, in a few article I will tell you more. In addition I inform you that I will translate some old article. Of course, forgive me if I’m wrong to translate, are not native speakers, be good! ;D CIAOOO
